Reece James’s stunning strike against Brighton has been named as Chelsea’s September Goal of the Month.

Over 30,000 fans voted via The 5th Stand app and the official Chelsea website for the right-back’s goal against the Seagulls, which helped us secure all three points on opening day.

Don’t remember the goal in question? Then watch it again below from all angles!

Reece’s impressive strike earned 75 per cent of the total vote to comfortably come out on top, with Mason Mount’s goal away at West Brom and Timo Werner’s first in Chelsea blue against Tottenham coming second and third respectively, but some way off James.

It was some way for the defender, who was recently called up to the senior England squad, to open his Premier League account, thrashing in a 25-yard strike to restore our lead on the South Coast in our opening game of the season. The boy has a knack of extravagant goals it seems - who can forget that equaliser against Ajax last season!?

The other contenders for last month’s prize, which includes goals from our men’s, women’s and Academy teams were Pernille Harder’s strike v Bristol City, Harvey Vale’s goal against West Ham and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s finish in our thrilling comeback draw against West Brom.
