Nathan Baxter will join League One side Accrington Stanley on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The goalkeeper, 21, spent the previous campaign with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership. After picking up a shoulder injury early in pre-season, he returned in late November to start 14 consecutive games for the Staggies before the season was curtailed in May. He was also on the bench for our Carabao Cup win against Barnsley last month.

Baxter has progressed through the football pyramid since his first loan at the age of 17 to Ryman Premier Division side Metropolitan Police, with further non-league spells at Solihull Moors and Woking before a step up to League Two with Yeovil Town in 2018/19.

He won the Player of the Year award while at both Yeovil and Woking, impressing coaches and fans alike with his on-field performances and off-field personality, and already has over 130 senior appearances to his name having helped Chelsea Academy teams win both the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.

The youngster now heads to the Crown Ground, where he will join fellow Academy graduates Tariq Uwakwe and Jon Russell on loan this season. Accrington are currently ninth in League One having won two and lost two of their opening four fixtures, and host Rochdale this weekend.
