An exclusive interview with Callum Hudson-Odoi and a look back at the birth of sexy football are among the standout features in the matchday programme for the Southampton game, which is available to pre-order now.

The international break came at an inopportune moment for Academy graduate Hudson-Odoi, who produced outstanding displays in our Premier League fixtures against West Brom and Crystal Palace, as he opened his account for the season in the draw with the Baggies and played his part in a thumping win over the Eagles. However, a bright start to the campaign will, he believes, set him up for what we all hope is a memorable season for the Blues.

‘I wanted to have a good start just so that, as the season’s going on, you feel more confident,’ he said. ‘I thought to myself that I need to score more goals, get more assists and I need to work hard for the team in general, just so we can win as many games as possible.‘It was an individual thing of saying to myself, “Give it your all in training, give it your all in matches and then, hopefully, the goals and assists will come as well.”’

You can hear plenty more from Hudson-Odoi in our exclusive Q&A, in which he analyses the attacking options at Frank Lampard’s disposal, as well as going in-depth on his own game. The headline historical content from the Saints programme is What’s the Story, as Scott Minto talks us through the summer of 1996, when Ruud Gullit’s appointment as player-manager and several world-class signings introduced sexy football to Stamford Bridge.

Of course, our usual columnists from inside the club have got plenty to say.
