Lampard: I want success for the Chelsea fans

Frank Lampard has thanked the Chelsea fans for all their support during his time as our head coach and has spoken of his desire to bring success to Stamford Bridge.

Our all-time leading goalscorer has pinpointed his first home game in charge, when Leicester visited the Bridge in August 2019, as one of his favourite moments as Chelsea manager and has spoken in detail of how engulfed into the job he has become as he searches for success.

‘I really enjoyed my first year in charge and I think that first home game against Leicester is something that really sticks out for me,’ Frank recalls.

‘I will always remember the reception of the fans, when I walked out at Stamford Bridge for the first time as Chelsea manager. It was really humbling for me, having been away and then coming back in a different capacity.

‘It was an amazing feeling and I loved it. This is my club and there are not many people that are fortunate enough to have the journey that I’ve had at such a brilliant football club. Now I’m here, in this position, I just want to make the best of it.'

The boss has added well to the squad this summer and is aiming to close the gap on the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League this season.

Lampard has admitted that this is his dream job, leading his club, and has revealed what his motivation is at Chelsea and explained how much he has jumped into the role.

‘It’s a tough job but it’s a rewarding job,' added Frank. 'I’m driving myself daily to be better and we know what it takes to taste success here.

'We want to do well and we know there’s a lot of work to be done to achieve our goals, but unless you give it absolutely everything then that’s not going to happen.

‘I’ve completely engulfed myself in this job and I want to bring success to this club. Coming back to Chelsea and receiving that reception that I did from the fans, you want to bring the supporters that success because they deserve it. So that’s what we are all working towards now.’
