Frank Lampard has made just one enforced change to the team which won at Burnley as we prepare to face Rennes.

Jorginho returns to the side in place of Kai Havertz following the latter's positive Covid-19 test and will captain the Blues as Cesar Azpilicueta is named among the substitutes. The Italian international could line-up alongside N'Golo Kante in what looks likely to be a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Mason Mount pushed further forward.

The back five remains unchanged, meaning goalkeeper Edouard Mendy faces the club he left to join Chelsea this season. In attack, Tammy Abraham continues as the central striker for his first Champions League start of the campaign, flanked by Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, who both scored against Burnley.

Christian Pulisic is still unavailable due to the hamstring injury he suffered before the weekend's game.

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Mendy; James, Thiago Silva, Zouma, Chilwell; Kante, Jorginho (c); Ziyech, Mount, Werner; Abraham

Subs: Caballero, Ziger, Rudiger, Christensen, Tomori, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Emerson, Kovacic, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud

Stats recap

Chelsea have never met Rennes in European competition. They will be the 56th different side we have met in the Champions League, and the sixth from France.

Our most recent meeting against a Ligue 1 side was against Lille in last season's Champions League group stage, winning home and away. Tammy Abraham scored in both games with Cesar Azpilicueta getting the winner in the second game at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have lost only one of our nine home matches against Ligue 1 visitors (five wins, three draws). Paris Saint-Germain were 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge in the 2015/16 round of 16 second leg, to win the tie 4-2 on aggregate.
