Timo Werner’s stunning solo goal against Southampton has been named as Chelsea’s Goal of the Month for October.

The German slalomed his way past the Saints defence before slotting past Alex McCarthy to open the scoring in our 3-3 Stamford Bridge draw, and you can watch the goal back in the video below.

Over 35,000 fans voted for Werner’s opener against the Saints via The 5th Stand app and the official Chelsea website, with the winning strike earning just shy of 15,000 votes.

Hakim Ziyech’s first Premier League goal, which came in our away win at Burnley, finished in second place while another Werner goal against Southampton was just behind in third.

The other contenders for last month’s prize, which includes goals from our men’s, women’s and Academy teams were Kai Havertz’s swept finish against Southampton at Stamford Bridge, Sam Kerr’s goal for Chelsea FC Women against Man City and an acrobatic effort from Jude Soonsup-Bell as our Under-18s faced Norwich.
