Chelsea line up vs Tottenham

Frank Lampard makes three changes from the team that began the midweek Champions League win in Rennes, one in defence, one in midfield and one in attack.

Reece James replaces Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back and N'Golo Kante resumes his duties in the centre of the park with Jorginho making way.

In the forward line, there is a place for Hakim Ziyech alongside Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner, with Callum Hudson-Odoi moving to the bench.

Also among the substitutes and involved for the first time this month after injury is Christian Pulisic

Thiago Silva takes the captain's armband.

For Totteham, Joe Rodon, making his full league debut, comes in to replace injured Toby Alderweireld in defence. That is the only change from their last Premier League outing, a win over Man City.

Stats recap

Our game with Tottenham is the 1,000th since Roman Abramovich became owner in June 2003. We have a 60.9% win rate in that time compared to our all-time 44.3%.

Chelsea are seeking a fourth consecutive victory in the Premier League against Tottenham for the first time since a run of six wins between January 2000 and March 2002.

Chelsea have won more Premier League matches against Tottenham (30) than we have against any other team in the competition.

Last season we achieved a league double against Spurs for the first time since 2005/06.

Chelsea have only lost one of our last 34 home games against Tottenham in all competitions (22 wins 11 draws).

Chelsea are seeking a seventh consecutive victory in all competitions for the first time since we managed seven wins in a row in September/October 2019.

Frank Lampard’s side are looking to extend our unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions since we were eliminated on penalties to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Our only defeat in 90 minutes this season (15 games) was against Liverpool when we played the last 50 minutes with 10 men.

Since the Liverpool defeat, we are unbeaten in seven Premier League matches (four wins, three draws), with only Tottenham on a longer current run in the competition (eight).

Since the start of 2018/19, Chelsea have won eight of our 10 home London derbies in the Premier League.
