Zouma happy after another goal and the return of fans

The name of Kurt Zouma is becoming an increasingly familiar one on the Chelsea scoresheet this season, and after his latest effort the defender spoke about the work he has done to increase his threat from set-pieces.

Zouma crashed home his fourth goal of the campaign to move him joint-top of our Premier League scoring chart, and put us 2-1 up against Leeds midway through the second half.

Having missed a number of good chances prior to that, Zouma’s goal eased nerves and it was added to by Christian Pulisic late on, securing a superb victory and extending our unbeaten run to 16 games.

‘Everyone is happy,’ said Zouma afterwards.

‘We knew it was going to be difficult. Leeds are a great team and they scored very early in the game. But we kept the belief and kept playing our game.

‘We deserved more in the first half, we had more chances, but it finished 3-1 and, by the way, I’m happy to score another goal!

‘I’m trying to help the team as much as I can,’ added Zouma of his own impact.

‘I know I can be a threat from set-pieces. I work hard in training and I have got the technical staff to help me with that.

‘We know this season we can score many goals, from open play but also set-pieces. It’s working at the minute but we have to keep going like that.’

After finding the corner of the Matthew Harding Stand net, Zouma raced away to the West Stand to celebrate. That was where a good portion of the returning Chelsea fans were housed for the game.

‘It was nice to hear some noise from the crowd and see them back at Stamford Bridge,’ stated Zouma.

‘They gave us a lot of support. Hopefully the stadium will be full as soon as possible so we can keep celebrating together.’
