Chelsea duo Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante have both been nominated for the prestigious 2020 FIFA FIFPRO World XI.

The duo are named among a 55-strong shortlist, which is voted for by all professional footballers worldwide. The World XI is made up of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards that receive the most votes from their fellow professionals.Kante is back to his brilliant best after overcoming a succession of injuries that had dogged his progress since our Europa League victory over Arsenal in 2019.

The French midfielder has played in a deeper role this term, allowing him to use his boundless energy to get around the field, win the ball back for the Blues and start attacks from the centre of the park. N’Golo has also worn the captain’s armband on occasions this term too.

Thiago Silva has been in imperious form for the Blues since his summer move from PSG, who he skippered to the Champions League final last term in what was his farewell appearance for the French champions

The Brazilian has developed a stunning partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the Chelsea defence, helping the Blues to third in the Premier League and the knockout stages of the Champions League. Thiago has also captained Frank Lampard’s side whenever Cesar Azpilicueta has been absent.

The defender netted his first Chelsea goal last month, heading home during our 4-1 home win over Stamford Bridge.

FIFPRO and FIFA will reveal the respective World XI's (men's and women's) on Thursday 17 December.
