Bright and Harder were voted into the team by their fellow professionals with their place among the Women’s World 11 announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards which took place as a virtual event this evening.Votes are based on the player’s performances throughout the 2019/20 season and it was during that campaign Blues vice-captain Bright continued to forge a formidable partnership with Blues team-mate Magdalena Eriksson as Chelsea clinched a domestic double.

Bright displayed commanding performances consistently in defence for Emma Hayes’ side as the England international helped the Blues go unbeaten on our way to winning The FA Women’s Super League.

'Being named in the FIFA FIFPRO World 11 leaves me speechless,' said Bright.

'Since signing for Chelsea and becoming professional, I’ve always said my aim was to be the best defender in the world, be a defender that every striker remembers.

'It’s reassuring that all the hard work and sacrifices you make to be the best player and athlete every single day are paying off. This is something I’m so proud of myself. No matter how tough the journey has been or how many people doubted me, I’ve never given in and never will.'

Harder, who joined the Blues in October, also earned a place in the FIFA FIFPO Women’s World 11 for her performances for former club Wolfsburg.

Recently awarded UEFA Player of the Year, Harder has become one of Europe’s top footballers and captained Wolfsburg to the Women’s Champions League final in August, scoring nine times across the campaign.

Harder also showed her prolific scoring ability in the German top flight as she netted 27 goals despite the season being cut short due to the global pandemic.

'This award, the World 11, is a great recognition from all the players in the world,' said Harder. 'Of course that means something extra: its fellow football players that have voted for me to be in this World 11.

'My greatest accomplishment? I think it’s difficult to say one thing. Overall, I think it has been an exceptional season. Of course, scoring 27 goals in a single season is maybe something that will be difficult to repeat, but winning the double with Wolfsburg four years in a row is also a big accomplishment.

'My transfer to Chelsea has also been something big for me, so it’s really difficult to pick out just one thing! It’s been a special year.'

Fellow Blues Sam Kerr, Ann-Katrin Berger, Erin Cuthbert, Magdalena Eriksson, Bethany England and Ji So-Yun were all among FIFA’s 55-player shortlist, while boss Emma Hayes made the final three for the Best FIFA Women's Coach award.
