Blues want to sign Alaba

Chelsea are still in the chase to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba according to Kicker.

The German magazine claims Chelsea alongside Liverpool have put in ‘very good offers’ for the 27-year-old’s signature.

Alaba’s deal expires next summer so he has been free to negotiate with clubs for a move. Real Madrid are also said to be one of the current favourites.

At Bayern, the Austrian has won nine Bundesliga titles, six German Cups and the Champions League twice.

German journalist Christian Falk took to Twitter to clarify the latest details on the Alaba situation, stating he had not signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid yet.

‘I spoke to the father and agent George,’ Falk said in his tweet. ‘He says nothing is fixed yet with Real Madrid and nothing has been signed. There are other clubs involved.’

Pulisic on playing in lockdown

Christian Pulisic has revealed what it feels like to play behind closed doors after football returned.

In a very open interview with GQ, the American winger stated that playing without fans has allowed him to grow a lot as a player.

‘It’s changed a lot of things,’ Pulisic said. ‘It’s not as enjoyable to play with no fans. You have to prove yourself and over time, I just continued to show it.

‘That’s also when I probably have grown the most as a player.’

The former Borussia Dortmund star had to tough start to his Chelsea career with injury troubles but when football returned, he seemed hungry and ready to prove himself. He netted five times and grabbed four assists in 11 games. This included an FA Cup final opener against Arsenal.

‘That’s the easiest part for me because I don’t have to speak,’ our number 10 said when asked about expressing himself through football. ‘I don’t have to show people what kind of person I am.

‘Playing football is the easiest way for me to express myself.’

Redknapp believes Mount is a leader in the making

Mason Mount’s consistency and good performances have earned him plenty of praise since breaking into the men’s first team last season.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes the Englishman could become a future Blues captain.

The 22-year-old has three goals and five assists in all competitions and is creating on average two-and-a-half chances per 90 minutes.

‘Gareth Southgate loves him, Frank Lampard’s the same,’ Redknapp said before our fixture against Leicester last night. ‘He is the first name on the team sheet, to a certain extent, because of what he does off the ball.’

The Sky Sports pundit believes Mount can captain Chelsea and continue to be an integral part of this Blues side.

‘There’s talk that, in a couple of years, he could be Chelsea’s captain, he’s got that look about him.

‘He’s the sort of player that is not fazed by any occasion.’
