Chelsea keeping tabs on Dembele

The Blues are reportedly interested in Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

According to Spanish paper, Sport, the former World Cup winner’s contract negotiations have broken down with Barcelona.

Chelsea, alongside Manchester United and Juventus, are among clubs who are potentially interested in the Frenchman.

The 23-year-old signed for the five-time Champions League winners back in 2017. His ongoing muscle problems have limited his appearances to 95 games for the club.

Due to the financial difficulties brought by the pandemic, Barcelona are reportedly not going to be able to increase his wages which might lead them to sell him.

The winger won the 2018 World Cup with France alongside Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante. He also briefly shared a dressing room with Christian Pulisic at Borussia Dortmund.

Former Blue on Cech’s leadership

Robert Huth has described how he saw Petr Cech as a leader during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

In an interview with The Athletic, the former centre-back detailed how Cech was able to relate to everyone in the dressing room due to his intelligence.

‘He’s a very imposing figure when you first meet him,’ the German said. ‘That instantly gives him a presence in the room.’

The former goalkeeper arrived from Rennes and became one of the leading members of the dressing room within one season.

‘There were a few leaders in the team, and he was quiet but when he did speak, everyone listened.

‘Whenever the captain (John Terry) or the others didn’t know what to say, that’s when he stepped up and took charge.’

Huth, who won two Premier League titles with the Blues, also revealed how smart the former goalkeeper is and how well versed he is on different topics.

‘You could talk about politics, music, whatever you felt like talking about. It was never just about sport with him, and that always set him apart.’

Tomori explains decision for AC Milan loan

Fikayo Tomori has revealed how Paolo Maldini’s phone call played a big part in him joining AC Milan on loan.

The centre-back has joined the Rossoneri on loan until the end of the season as he looks to continue his development.

‘It’s a club with a great history and great players and the club is in a great moment right now,’ he said in an interview on the club’s website. ‘This was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.’

The 23-year-old also admitted how the call from the AC Milan legend, who is now the technical director, made him decide Milan was a place he wanted to learn at.

‘I spoke to Paolo Maldini, the best defender to ever play football and he was asking me to come.

‘From there I knew that this was where I wanted to be and come and play football to learn from him.’

Tomori will become the first Englishman to play for AC Milan since David Beckham in 2009. He also could have a chance to win Serie A as his new club sit top of the table with a two-point over lead their rivals Inter Milan.
