The fact we had 71 per cent of possession against Sean Dyche’s side highlights just how in control the Blues were at Stamford Bridge, along with registering 19 shots at goal compared to just the sole attempt from Burnley, which came deep into injury time.

Unlikely yet welcome source of goals

There probably wouldn’t have been too many people predicting that the first goals of the Tuchel era would be scored by Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniards were both on target, one in each half, to secure all three points and combined with the clean sheet kept at the other end, it represented a perfect day at the office.

Skipper Azpilicueta recorded 106 touches in the game but, without question, the most rewarding one came five minutes before the break when the defender ran the length of the pitch to support Callum Hudson-Odoi in attack before side-footing into the roof of the net to fire us in front.

Interestingly, Chelsea have never lost a Premier League game when Azpi has been on target (won five, drawn four).

On the other flank, Alonso capped off a wonderful day with a stunning volley into the top corner with just seven minutes remaining.

The left-back was making his first appearance since September and looked like he’d never been away, completing 86.5 per cent of his passes and winning his aerial duels – something Tuchel revealed he had brought Alonso into the team for.

Callum thriving at wing-back

One of the most notable additions to Tuchel’s first couple of games in charge is the fact he’s deployed Hudson-Odoi as an attacking right wing-back.

The England international shone in the position once again against Burnley, earning the Man of the Match award and proving a constant threat to our opponents every time he attacked.

Hudson-Odoi registered four key passes in the win, as well as going close with two attempts at goal, and also completed 77 per cent of his 48 passes.

While not getting on the scoresheet against Burnley, which his performance certainly deserved, Callum has now been directly involved in five goals in his past eight starts in all competitions, scoring three and providing two assists and highlights the impact he’s having on that right side.

Solid base

Two games into life under Tuchel and the Blues have recorded a win and a draw, as well as clean sheets in both fixtures.

The German is the first Chelsea head coach to achieve that feat since 2012 and will be hoping to build on that foundation ahead of another busy week, with games against Tottenham and Sheffield United next on the agenda.

Tuchel favoured a back three, in large, in his opening two games with Azpilicueta tucking in from right-back to join Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger in defence.

Thiago Silva, a key component of Tuchel’s PSG side, was instrumental in the weekend win by making two tackles, four interceptions and six clearances in a real Rolls Royce display at centre-back.
