With the 2021 winter transfer window having closed yesterday in England for men's football, we wrap up all the player moves in and out involving Chelsea during that period.

A total of 10 Blues players were on the move during the latest transfer window, with eight of them leaving Stamford Bridge, either permanently or on loan, and two more returning to the club after spending time away on loan.

You can find everything you need to know about all 10 moves below…

Fikayo Tomori

The young defender will spend the rest of 2020/21 gaining top-flight experience in Italy on loan with AC Milan, the current Serie A leaders. The Academy graduate made his full debut for his loan club in a 2-1 win over Bologna on Saturday, having previously played four times for Chelsea this season. In total, he has made 27 appearances for the Blues, most recently in last month’s FA Cup win over Morecambe, and has one senior England cap to his name.

Danny Drinkwater

The midfielder will be playing his football outside of England for the first time after joining Turkish side Kasimpasa on loan until the end of the season, although an injury means he is still waiting to make his debut. Drinkwater takes with him plenty of experience, having been part of the Leicester City side which won the Premier League in 2016 and has made 23 appearances for Chelsea, the most recent of which was in the 2018 Community Shield.

Lucas Piazon

The Brazilian playmaker has joined Sporting Braga in a permanent transfer. The move sees Piazon remain in Portugal, where he had spent the last 18 months on loan with Rio Ave, playing under current Braga manager Carlos Carvalhal. He had been with Chelsea for nine-and-a-half years, making three first-team appearances and being named our Young Player of the Year after helping us win the FA Youth Cup in 2012.

Baba Rahman

Ghanaian international Baba has moved to Greece on loan for the rest of the season, where he will play for PAOK. The 26-year-old left-back joined Chelsea from Augsburg in 2015 and made 23 appearances in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, but has had playing time limited while on loan due to injury.

Juan Castillo

Castillo switched loan clubs in January, but remains in the top flight in his native Netherlands. The left-back departed AZ Alkmaar and joined fellow Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag for the rest of 2020/21, where he has already become a regular as the team from The Hague compete in a tight Dutch relegation battle. That represents his first experience of first division football, having previously represented AZ and Ajax’s youth sides in the second tier, with the exception of a brief substitute appearance for the former in December.

Teddy Sharman-Lowe

The teenage goalkeeper returned to Cobham following four months on loan with former club Burton Albion. The 18-year-old signed for the Blues from Burton in September but remained in the Midlands on loan until the start of January. He was mostly used as back-up for the Brewers, but did make three first-team appearances this season, in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy.

Ethan Wady

Another young goalkeeper returning from a loan spell, Wady spent the first half of the season National League South side Dartford. The American leaves them top of the table and returns to the Blues Academy.

Charlie Brown

The 21-year-old striker left Chelsea to join MK Dons on a permanent transfer. Brown, who was part of the Blues’ Under-18s side which won an unprecedented quadruple in 2018, has already made four substitute appearances for his new club in League One.

Jack Wakely

The Academy centre-back has joined Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for the remainder of the current campaign. Wakely will spend his time on the South Coast with the Premier League outift’s Under-23s, having progressed through the youth system at Cobham since Under-9s level. The 20-year-old was part of the Blues team which won the Premier League 2 last season.

Malik Mothersille

Mothersille is another who will spend time on loan at another club’s academy, in his case Derby County. The 17-year-old forward has joined the Rams for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Chelsea Women moves

Young midfielder Charlotte Fleming also left the club, joining FA Championship side Leicester. Another young player, 17-year-old attacker Emily Murphy, has joined Birmingham until the end of the season.

The signing of Swedish goalkeeper Zecira Musovic was announced in December but the 24-year old, who joins Chelsea on a two-and-a-half-year deal, officially began at the club on 1 January. She was previously at Swedish Damallsvenskan club FC Rosengard.
