Chelsea keeping an eye on Sancho

The Blues have received a boost in their reported interest in Jadon Sancho.

According to Sport 1, Borussia Dortmund firmly expect Jadon Sancho to leave the club in the summer with Chelsea and Manchester United the front runners to sign the winger.

The Englishman signed for the German club from Manchester City in 2017 and has proved himself to be one of the best wingers in the world.

The Blues have reportedly been admirers of the London-born attacker for a while now, with Sancho once admitting in an interview he supported Chelsea growing up.

However, if the 20-year-old is to move to Stamford Bridge, the Blues are expected to have to fight off Manchester United who have also been interested in the Dortmund star man.

Sancho’s contract runs out in the summer of 2023. The German club have also admitted they will need to sell the player if they do not make the Champions League this season.

The winger has netted 10 times and has 15 assists so far this season.

Joe Cole lauds Mason Mount

Former Blues star Joe Cole was once again impressed with Mason Mount after our victory against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last night.

Speaking on BT Sport, Cole revealed why the 22-year-old is liked so much by his team-mates.

‘He’s still a young lad, you can’t rely on him all the time but he’s so important for the club at the moment,’ he said. ‘He’s got that little bit of magic, and he was a threat.’

Mount played an important role in the centre of the pitch and was also pivotal when going forward.

He was also heavily involved in Olivier Giroud’s winner when he forced a mistake by the Atletico defender for the striker’s wonder goal.

Cole insists that footballers love him because he can provide the quality in important moments.

‘Even when there was nothing in the game he was looking to probe,’ Cole continued. ‘The reason why footballers love him so much is because he does everything right.’

Alonso’s father discusses the left-back’s return

Marcos Alonso’s father believes his son has learned an important lesson after his emergence back into the starting line-up for the Blues.

The 30-year-old has been one of the most picked options at left wing-back under German coach Thomas Tuchel.

Speaking to Onda Cero, the left-back’s father, also named Marcos Alonso, spoke about the important lesson the Spaniard learned while he was out of the team.

‘I didn’t do it well (during my playing career) and you have to do it well in case another coach comes,’ Alonso senior said. ‘Thanks to his effort, he has trained, and he has not stopped, he has been able to do well and the coach can count on him.’

Alonso returned to the starting line-up in Tuchel’s second game in charge against Burnley.

That was the 30-year-old’s first appearance for the Blues since September and he topped it off by scoring our goal of the month.

‘They are things that happen, and you learn everything.

‘My son has learned a lesson and knows that this is over and does not last for life.’
