There are three changes to the side that began the draw against Manchester United last time out.

Timo Werner will lead the attack in place of Olivier Giroud and Jorginho comes in for Mateo Kovacic alongside N'Golo Kante.

Reece James is preferred to Callum Hudson-Odoi at right wing-back.

By making his 411th appearance for the club tonight, Cesar Azpilicueta becomes our 10th all-time highest appearance maker.

Ahead of kick-off, Thomas Tuchel explained his selection.

‘We need speed against a high line and Timo has the speed so this is why he’s in,' he said. ‘When the game becomes maybe more deeper and we have more crosses or set-pieces then it’s more for Oli [Giroud] but to start with it’s Timo.‘Reecey in exchange for Callum is for the defensive power and physicality. On the other side, Chilly in for Marcos again is for his speed. Marcos [Alonso] has played very well. He’s a bit taller, stronger on set-pieces and very reliable but Chilly is a bit faster and this is what we expect today because Liverpool attack very fast down the sides with Robertson and Alexander-Arnold. We need to be ready for that.’

For Liverpool, Alisson returns in goal and fit-again Fabinho comes into their central defence.
