Our look ahead to Liverpool begins with the key facts and figures worth knowing as a regular fixture resumes...

Chelsea vs Liverpool head to head

Chelsea have won one of our past 12 Premier League meetings with Liverpool (five draws, six defeats), beating them 1-0 at the Bridge in May 2018 thanks to a first-half Olivier Giroud header.

Liverpool are seeking a fifth consecutive Premier League win against Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho was in charge the last time we came away from Anfield with three points. Cesar Azpilicueta was in a side that won 2-1 in November 2014 with goals from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa, after Emre Can opened the scoring early on. Since then we have drawn three, all 1-1, and lost the last two.

This will be our 90th game at Anfield and will equal, with Goodison Park, the most games played at an away ground in our history.

The reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, which Liverpool won 2-0, was only the second time in 24 games in all competitions that we have failed to score at least one goal against the Reds.

Chelsea’s biggest league win at Anfield is 4-1 in 1907/08 and 2005/06

Liverpool’s 68-match league home unbeaten run came to an end in January against Burnley. They have now lost four consecutive league games at Anfield, equalling their top-flight record set in 1923. The Reds have never lost five consecutive home games in their history, either in the league or all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now 528 minutes without a goal in open play in the Premier League at Anfield. Their only home league goal in 2021 was a Mohamed Salah penalty against Man City.

They have lost six Premier League games in 2021, already one more than in 2019 and 2020 combined.

The Reds have conceded 34 goals this term, one more than in the entirety of last season's title-winning campaign.

Liverpool’s second goal against Sheffield United on Sunday was their 7,000th in the English top-flight, becoming only the second team to reach that landmark after Everton (7,109 goals).

Liverpool have scored just one first-half goal in their past 11 league fixtures.

Salah is leading the Premier League Golden Boot with 17 goals, followed by Bruno Fernandes on 15 and Harry Kane on 14.

Thirty-two per cent of the league goals Liverpool have conceded have come in the last 15 minutes (11/34).

London sides have lost each of their last 15 Premier League visits to Anfield.

Despite losing their last four games at Anfield, Liverpool still have the equal-third-best home record (with Chelsea) with 23 points from a possible 39:

Leeds W 4-3Arsenal W 3-1Sheffield Utd W 2-1West Ham W 2-1Leicester W 3-0Wolves W 4-0Tottenham W 2-1West Brom D 1-1Manchester Utd D 0-0Burnley L 0-1Brighton L 0-1Manchester City L 1-4Everton L 0-2

When Jurgen Klopp’s side won the Premier League last season, Liverpool won 18 of their 19 home games, drawing against Burnley in the other.
