Blues receive Sule boost

Chelsea are said to be closely monitoring Niklas Sule’s situation at Bayern Munich.

According to German outlet Abendzeitung, the Blues are ready to table an offer for the centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window.

The club have been repeatedly linked with bringing another centre-back to the club to add to the existing quality of players. Sule is also reportedly seen as a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.

Bayern’s activity in the transfer window might have an impact on the 25-year-old’s minutes at the club. They have signed Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig and also Reading’s Omar Richards.

Sule’s contract runs out in 2022 and Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel is known to be an admirer of the German.

The centre-back can bring a lot of experience to the squad and has won trophies at domestic and international level.

He has three Bundesliga titles to his name, one Champions League and also won the Confederations Cup with Germany in 2017.

Cole impressed by Chelsea performance

Ashley Cole has labelled the Blues’ win over Liverpool as one of the best Chelsea performances he has seen.

The former left-back spoke on Sky Sports last night and was left impressed after a Mason Mount strike saw the Blues take all three points at Anfield.

‘I think it was the perfect performance,’ Cole said. ‘I thought they showed a lot of bravery to go to Anfield.

‘For me it was one of the best performances I’ve seen Chelsea play in terms of playing out from the back, being brave and calm on the ball.’

Chelsea have now returned to the top four and are only four points off Manchester United who are in second place. Cole also admitted to being impressed with how quickly Thomas Tuchel has changed things around.

‘They’ve taken to him very quickly,’ he added. ‘He has been concise in what he wants. A different style to Frank, but with the same personnel.

‘Sticking to the game plan of that ball over the top, it worked a treat. They will take a lot from this game and they’ll be high on confidence.’

Carragher praises Tuchel

Jamie Carragher has praised Thomas Tuchel for his bravery after our 1-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool centre-back praised the German for sticking to his game plan in a tough fixture.

‘They looked a real top outfit. It was almost like a European team coming to Anfield,’ Carragher said about Tuchel’s men.

‘I’d look at Chelsea’s quality and very rarely did Liverpool get someone, nick the ball off them and put them in any kind of trouble.’

Mason Mount’s curling effort was the deciding goal as Chelsea remained in control for the whole 90 minutes.

The Blues extended our unbeaten run under Tuchel to 10 games, including important wins against Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.

‘It was brave of Thomas Tuchel to come here and play like that,’ he continued. ‘That is his way of playing, he’s not going to change and I’ve said that before the game.

‘He’s been here with Paris Saint-Germain and with Borussia Dortmund so he didn’t change his game-plan, he’s been very brave.’
