When and where?

The game, which kicks off at 12.30pm (UK), is being staged at the Brianteo Stadium in Monza, Italy.

Due to Spanish government restrictions on travellers entering the country from the UK because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it had been decided by UEFA and Atletico Madrid that the match will take place in Italy.

The form

Chelsea beat West Ham 2-0 in the Women’s Super League on Sunday thanks to goals from Sam Kerr and Bethany England. Our Australian forward netted her 12th league goal of the term in the seventh minute when England delivered a perfect ball into the box for Kerr to powerfully head home. The roles reversed in the second half as the two combined once again, with this time Kerr whipping one in for the Chelsea No.9 to head past the West Ham ‘keeper.

Atletico Madrid were also in league action on Sunday and beat Real Betis 4-0 in the Primera Division. Leicy Maria Santos, Deyna Castellanos, Amanda Sampedro and Ajara Nchout were the goalscorers.

Chelsea v Atletico Madrid head-to-head record

Emma Hayes’ side hosted Atletico Madrid last Wednesday at Kingsmeadow for the first leg of this round-of-16 tie. The Blues suffered a setback early on in the game following the sending off of Sophie Ingle due to a foul in the box. However, we responded superbly with only 10 players and came away with a 2-0 win. Ann-Katrin Berger saved two penalties, while Maren Mjelde converted from the spot and Fran Kirby steered home her effort beyond former Blues goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl.

Next match for the Blues

Another huge match follows for Chelsea at the weekend as we face Bristol City in the Continental Tyres League Cup final. The Blues, who won the 2019/20 trophy, will aim to clinch it for a second successive season at Vicarage Road on Sunday. The match kicks off at 2.30pm.
