Chelsea FC Women entertain Aston Villa this afternoon and Blues midfielder Sophie Ingle is looking forward to our return to Kingsmeadow having played our previous five fixtures away from home.

The Blues return to league action today following our Champions League quarter-final first leg victory against Wolfsburg on Wednesday, with the visit of midlands outfit Aston Villa.

Our last outing at home was in the Champions League when we beat Atletico Madrid in the first leg of our round of 16 tie and Ingle is eagerly anticipating a return to Kingsmeadow.

She said: ‘We’ve had so many away games this month, so we are all looking forward to being back at Kingsmeadow.

‘We all love playing at Kingsmeadow, we’ve all missed the place and our home ground comforts.

‘It’s a shame we won’t have our fans with us but hopefully we can continue our good form and get a win for those watching from home.’

Today’s visitors have struggled in their first season in the Barclay’s FA Women’s Super League, picking up just three wins in 17 league meetings but Ingle is expecting Villa to be a hard side to break down and highlighted the importance of starting the clash with a high intensity.

Ingle added: ‘We’ve seen this season that every game is tough, and each game presents us with different challenges.

‘The league has got so much more competitive. We know Villa will be another difficult game for us so it’s vital that we start the game well.

‘Starting the game with a high energy is key to producing a strong performance and getting the three points.’

The visit of Aston Villa this afternoon will see the return of Chelsea Women legends Eni Aluko and Anita Asante.

Aluko is now sporting director for their women’s team, while Asante left the Blues in the summer to sign for the Midlands side and Ingle praised the duo for the roles they played during their time at the club.

‘Both Eni and Anita have been a massive part of Chelsea’s success over the years,’ said Ingle.

‘They both helped the club get to where it is today, and we are all looking forward to welcoming them back to Kingsmeadow.’

Today’s game kicks-off at 2.30pm and is available to watch live on BT Sport and the FA Player.
