The matchday programme for this weekend’s Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion is available to order now.

Our interview this week is with Cesar Azpilicueta, who recently moved into the club’s top 10 all-time appearance-makers’ list, having crossed the 400-game mark in January. The Chelsea captain has enjoyed a fine run of form in recent weeks, and responded to some suggestions that our glut clean sheets under Thomas Tuchel showed us to have a ‘defensive’ approach.

‘Well, being defensive? There is lots of opinions on that. Some might think that being defensive is just to have the team as deep as you can and put a lot of bodies in the way, but our way of defending has been completely different,’ he told us.

‘We’ve been trying to be in the other half of the pitch, to push them deep and recover the ball as quick as we can, to not allow counter-attacks. The further the opponents are from our box, the less dangerous they are – that’s obvious. It’s down also to the hard work of the whole team, especially the attacking players, because when we lose the ball, that first reaction has been really, really helpful for everybody. The intensity and the focus from everybody is the same, from the goalkeeper to the centre-forward. We are all thinking the same way and we cannot drop that.'

Elsewhere in the programme, Tuchel reflects on the challenge of returning to action against a physical West Brom side immediately after the international break in his programme notes. Then there’s all the latest from the Academy and Chelsea Women, as well as our regular historical features, as Clive Walker recalls a game that Baggies boss Sam Allardyce would probably rather forget from their playing days.

Club historian Rick Glanvill looks at the early days of the current West Stand and there’s a pictorial history of the lives of Stamford and Bridget in The Vault.
