We're approaching the last round of fixtures for the league season and there is still work to be done in the race for Champions League qualification. Here we analyse the top-four permutations for the final weekend...

By beating Leicester on Tuesday night, the Blues replaced the Foxes in third place and ensured that securing a place in the top four is in our own hands ahead of the final weekend of 2020/21.

We know a victory over Aston Villa on Sunday will guarantee third place. A draw would be good enough for top four unless both Liverpool and Leicester win.

After winning at Burnley on Wednesday evening, Liverpool are now in fourth and there are shades of last season when it took until the final day for a Chelsea win to earn us Champions League qualification, with Leicester narrowly missing out on the top four.

However, Brendan Rodgers' side are still level on points with Liverpool and so could surpass them on goal difference even if the Reds beat Crystal Palace at Anfield, although it would take a big Leicester win at home to Tottenham. Liverpool's goal difference is currently four superior to Leicester's.

If Chelsea lose at Villa Park, we would need to hope one of Liverpool or Leicester lose in order to keep our place in the top four. If both avoid defeat, then a Leicester draw and a Chelsea defeat by one or two goals would see us pip the Foxes on goal difference.
