Blues linked to Wijnaldum

Chelsea have been linked with Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

According to Marca, the Blues are looking to bring the Dutchman to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old will soon be a free agent and will most likely move away from the 2019/20 Premier League winners Liverpool.

The report states that Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Inter Milan are also interested in signing the experienced midfielder.

When asked about where his next destination will be, Wijnaldum confirmed he still isn’t sure about his future.

‘You will always talk about those things about my future,’ he told reporters last week. ‘As I have said on other occasions, I have no news yet.

‘When there is news, I will talk about it.’

Keane praises Mount

Roy Keane has praised Mason Mount’s performances for his club and country.

Speaking on ITV, the former Manchester United midfielder lauded the 22-year-old before England’s World Cup qualifier against Poland.

‘Ultimately, I think the players pick the team and he has performed well enough for every manager to say, “listen you are going to be in my starting line-up”.

‘He’s an outstanding player. He wants to be an all-round midfielder. I never hear anything negative about him off the pitch and he seems a brilliant young kid.’

The Irishman believes Mount’s loan spells at Derby and Vitesse prepared him for life at Chelsea and his role in the Three Lions squad.

‘He has gone out on loan and he has done it the hard way,’ Keane added.

‘He is a fantastic player and I’m looking forward to seeing him.’

Ferdinand picks Lampard as his favourite midfielder

Rio Ferdinand has labelled Frank Lampard as the midfielder he would pick if he was a manager.

Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, the former Manchester United defender gave his take on the Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard debate.

‘If I’m a manager, I take Lampard,’ Ferdinand said. ‘Because he is going to get me 20 goals a year.

‘As a manager I want them to define matches, Lampard is going to get me 20 and probably double figures in assists.’

Ferdinand believes the Englishman’s numbers speak for themselves. The former Blues midfielder is ranked fifth in the all-time Premier League scorers chart with 177 goals. He is also ranked fourth for Premier League assists with 102.

‘Lampard is the most potent out of all of them in terms of goals,’ Ferdinand continued. ‘None of them can get near Lampard.’

‘Goals and assists. Lampard dwarfs everybody and he was cold as ice in the box.’
