Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that a hamstring injury forced the half-time withdrawal of Christian Pulisic against West Brom.

The American winger started against the Baggies and fired us in front with his first goal since December, though the Blues eventually lost 5-2. After coming out for the second half, Pulisic was seen in some discomfort before indicating to Tuchel that he could not continue.

After the game, the Blues boss revealed what had happened, commenting: 'Christian did a sprint when he came back out for the second half and said that he felt his hamstring would not survive the game if he continued.

'So we had to make the decision to substitute him straight away.'

Mason Mount replaced the 22-year-old and notched a goal of his own but Tuchel ultimately suffered his first defeat in charge at the hands of Sam Allardyce's men.

The Blues are back in action on Wednesday with the first leg of our Champions League quarter-final against Porto.
