In our look at the latest Chelsea-related news stories from the media, the Blues are reportedly favourites to sign Sergio Aguero and Porto boss Sergio Conceicao believes Thomas Tuchel’s men are more dangerous after loss.

Chelsea receive Aguero transfer boost

The Blues have reportedly gotten a big boost in their efforts to sign Sergio Aguero in the summer.

According to the Evening Standard, Stamford Bridge could be the Argentine’s next destination when he becomes a free agent.

Aguero is ranked fourth in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts and sources near him believe he is keen on moving up the list. He is six goals behind Andy Cole, who is third.

The Manchester City legend has interest from all over Europe. The Blues will have to fight off Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for his signature. Barcelona are also strong contenders due to the striker’s friendship with Lionel Messi.

When asked about the striker, Thomas Tuchel labelled him as world-class.

‘We have full respect for Manchester City and for Sergio Aguero, who is a big player for them,’ he said.

‘There are no words needed from me about the achievements of this guy, he is a world-class player.’

Porto boss warns about backlash

Porto manager Sergio Conceicao believes the Blues are more dangerous after our loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Porto boss warned his players ahead of tonight’s Champions League quarter-final.

‘You know that Thiago Silva was sent off in the first half and that the game had a different course,’ he said. ‘Chelsea until this last game had been extremely competent.

‘They have not lost a game in the Champions League. They have the second-best defence in the Champions League and also in the Premier League.’

The Blues will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s performance when they return to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

The last time Chelsea were in Seville, Olivier Giroud scored all of our four goals against Spanish side Sevilla.

‘They are a competent team, and when these defeats happen it serves as a warning,’ he continued. ‘If you want my opinion, I would’ve preferred that they won the last game.

‘These situations make the siren sound and make everyone more alert, more awake to the danger.’

Murphy gives his Blues prediction

Danny Murphy has given his prediction for Chelsea’s clash against Porto.

Speaking in the Daily Mail, the former Liverpool man believes the Blues will get through to the semi-finals.

‘Against Juventus in the last round, Pepe won plaudits for being a defensive warrior while Sergio Oliveira and Mehdi Taremi have quality going forward,’ he said.

‘But Porto were stretched at times and slightly fortunate to get through.’

The last time the Blues were in the quarter-finals, they overcome a 3-1 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain to go through on away goals in 2014.

‘They will be pragmatic against Chelsea but Thomas Tuchel’s side are normally hard to score against in Europe,’ Murphy continued.

‘Mason Mount is in amazing form, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will control the midfield and the stage is set for Hakim Ziyech or Christian Pulisic to produce some magic.’
