The midfielder, who is shining for the Blues under Thomas Tuchel, was part of the side that lost to Arsenal in last season’s FA Cup final and the Carabao Cup to tomorrow’s opponents Manchester City a year earlier.

This is a new era for Chelsea though, with Thomas Tuchel leading the Blues into a crunch semi-final at the national stadium against Premier League leaders City, with Jorginho hoping to use the pain of those defeats as inspiration to win his first domestic trophy as a Chelsea player.

‘It would mean a lot to win a domestic trophy with Chelsea,’ Jorginho said, in our exclusive pre-match interview.

‘When you finish your career, you want to be able to look back and point to the trophies you’ve won and in England this is a very important competition. I have already been in a couple of finals with Chelsea and not lifted the trophy at the end of them, so it would be very nice if we can achieve that this season and that is a target we all have.

‘When you get to the final, of course you want to win. That feeling at the end of a final if you don’t win is horrible and I don’t want to experience that. We have ambitions to win trophies but of course, we have a very difficult match in the semi-final against Man City first that we have to prepare and focus for.

‘Man City will give us a tough game. They have been playing together for years now and they know each other very well. They know their movements and understand what they need to do to win.

‘It is very hard to play against them but at the same time, we are working very hard and I am sure we can cause them problems with our attacking play.’

Having resided in England for almost three years now, Jorginho has quickly come to realise how important and romantic the FA Cup is to football fans in this country.

The Italy international will hope to feature for the Blues at Wembley again tomorrow but can’t help but reflect on all those Chelsea fans unable to cheer the team on from inside the national stadium.

‘I have watched the FA Cup for many years and since I’ve been in England, you quickly learn how important this competition is and what it means to people,’ explained our Italian midfielder.

‘Playing at Wembley is always amazing. It’s one of the best stadiums in the world and it gives players a fantastic feeling when you go there to play.

‘I think it is a real shame and very sad that we will not have our fans there because we miss them and the amazing atmosphere they create. Of course, we understand why but I hope this will change soon because playing with fans is such a great thing.’
