Blues interested in Garcia

Chelsea are reportedly keeping an eye on Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.

According to Sport, the Blues are set to compete with Spanish giants Barcelona for the Spaniard’s signature this summer.

Garcia has been linked with a move back to Barcelona for almost a year, but the club have reportedly struggled to agree on a fee with Man City.

The Catalan club’s presidential elections in January also delayed the signing of the 20-year-old and the Blues, who have been linked with signing a centre-back, could use this as an advantage.

The report also states that Barcelona do not want to wait too long as other clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, could table an offer for Garcia who becomes a free agent this summer.

The centre-back has lacked playing time at the Etihad Stadium this season and has only appeared 10 times. Regardless, he is still seen by many as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.

Shearer praises Tuchel

Alan Shearer has praised Thomas Tuchel’s managerial performance in our FA Cup win against Manchester City at the weekend.

Speaking as part of the BBC’s coverage, the former Newcastle and England striker shared why the Blues made it so difficult for Pep Guardiola’s men to play their normal game.

‘Chelsea deserved the win,’ he said. ‘Their system stopped Man City playing and when they played against that high line, it worked to perfection.

‘That’s why Werner was in the team today – Tuchel knew City would struggle with that high line.’

The Blues advanced to the final of the FA Cup where we will face Leicester City next month at Wembley. Former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole also was impressed by what the back-line were able to do in defence.

‘The defensive display was brilliant,’ he added. ‘They put their bodies on the line, defended well, it was a terrific performance.

‘It’s going to be a big few months for them until the end of the season.’

Hazard clear for Blues reunion

Eden Hazard will reportedly be fit when Real Madrid travel to Stamford Bridge to face us in the semi-final of the Champions League.

The Belgian joined the Spanish side in 2019 after seven years with the Blues, however injuries have affected the attacker since the move limiting him to only 14 appearances this season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference before their 0-0 draw against Getafe, Read Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane gave Chelsea fans hope that we could see a fit Hazard for his Chelsea reunion next month.

‘He is feeling very better, and he is ready,’ he said. ‘He wants to be back more than anybody else.’

The 30-year-old signed for Chelsea in 2012 from Lille and made 352 appearances, scoring 110 goals.
