Fran Kirby netted a brace as Chelsea Women secured a place in the Women’s Champions League final and the striker described Sunday’s victory against Bayern Munich as a ‘special’ moment.

Kirby got the Blues up and running at Kingsmeadow when she opened the scoring after 12 minutes and the No.14 sealed the win with her second goal of the game in stoppage time.

Chelsea became only the third team to reach the final having lost the first leg and Kirby hailed the effort and spirit displayed by the Blues to overturn the deficit on Sunday afternoon.

She said: ‘It’s unbelievable. We’ve been in this competition a long time and I was there in the first season that we started off in this competition.

‘I’ve seen how we’ve grown and how we’ve grown as a team. Everyone gave everything, there were bodies on the line and it’s really special.’

Chelsea will now face Barcelona in our first ever Champions League final on Sunday 16 May and while Kirby has vowed to win the competition, the forward insists focus is now on our final two league fixtures as the Blues look to secure back-to-back Barclays FA Women’s Super League titles.

She added: ‘It’s one of the most important wins but for us we have to focus on what we’ve still got coming up.

‘We’ve got the league that we want to win and then we’ve got this one which we also want to go and win.

‘We can’t just be happy with getting to the final. Of course, we can be happy, but we have to go there and look to win this tournament now.’
