Blues linked to De Ligt

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

According to Tuttosport, the Blues have recently enquired about the Dutchman.

The 21-year-old was signed from Ajax in 2019 for around £85 million after an impressive Champions League semi-final run with his boyhood club.

The report also states that Juventus see the centre-back as an important part of their rebuild and as a captain of the Bianconeri one day.

The Dutch star has featured 33 times for the Italian giants so far this season and has been struggling with a recurring shoulder injury. The centre-back was also out in February after contracting Covid-19.

The Blues are reportedly interested in bringing in a centre-back this summer to further strengthen their backline and De Ligt is the latest name to come up.

Cole praises good atmosphere at Cobham

Ashley Cole has revealed how impressed he is with the positive environment at our Cobham training centre.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Blues left-back spoke about his recent meeting with Thomas Tuchel to see his training methods in person.

‘I had the pleasure to have a meeting with him last week with a few of the Academy staff,’ he said, ‘Just to get an insight into how he works on a daily basis.

‘It was great to see. He’s got that happy environment and I think the players are onside.’

The German boss has a crucial last four games of the season, starting with the FA Cup final tomorrow afternoon against Leicester City.

‘They’ve got that work ethic and willingness to want to improve and get better,’ Cole added. ’So, I kind of see the way he works and understands.

‘When I watch Chelsea, I see these passing patterns and the way he sees football was brilliant for me as a young coach. I think he’s got the players onside.’

Wright backs Blues in FA Cup final

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes the Blues will win the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon when we face Leicester City.

Speaking on his show, Wrighty’s House podcast, the former England international believes Chelsea will be ruthless when they face the Foxes.

‘In the FA Cup final, I’m going to go for Chelsea,’ he said. ‘I just think that Chelsea are so militant in the way they are playing at the moment, they are so good.

‘It’s quite scary, they have enough players there who can just win it.’

This upcoming weekend will be the Blues’ first of two finals this month, with the Champions League final coming up on 29 May in Porto against Manchester City.

‘Leicester’s line is so high,’ Wright continued. ‘They can’t do that against Timo Werner surely.

‘I just can’t see Leicester beating them. I can see Chelsea winning at a canter in fact.’
