Blues dominate Champions League Squad of the Season

There is a strong Chelsea presence in the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season with seven of our players named in the list of 23 after our 1-0 victory over Manchester City in last weekend’s final in Porto.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was selected after keeping a record-equalling nine clean sheets while Antonio Rudiger, Ben Chilwell and captain Cesar Azpilicueta took up three of the six spots in defence.

Fresh off winning his fourth Man of the Match award of the campaign in the final, N’Golo Kante was selected in midfield alongside Mason Mount and Jorginho.

The squad, which also included five Manchester City players and three each from semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, was selected by a group of 11 UEFA technical observers which included England manager Garerth Southgate, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez and former Premier League stars Patrick Vieira and Robbie Keane.
