Ampadu was withdrawn at the break and Wales improved after it having switched to a 4-2-3-1 shape, but it still took them until the 73rd minute to register their first shot on target.

They play Cape Verde on Tuesday, while Brazil have another World Cup qualifier to look forward to, against Paraguay on Wednesday.

At Under-18 level, Bryan Fiabema played the full game for Norway who were beaten 2-1 by Portugal in Lisbon. Portugal scored twice early on before the young Norwegians got a goal back before the break. Despite creating plenty of second-half chances they could not muster an equaliser.

The teams meet again on Tuesday.
