Giroud strike named as Chelsea Goal of the Season winner

Goal of the Season winner 2020/21: Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud’s stunning acrobatic finish against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League has been voted by Chelsea fans as our Goal of the Season.

The Frenchman went up against Kai Havertz’s Champions League final-winning goal against Manchester City in the grand final, after a series of ‘knockout’ games to determine the winner.

Around 20,000 Chelsea fans from around the world voted in our final knockout match via this website and our 5th Stand app, with Giroud’s goal narrowly edging out Havertz’s entry by 51 per cent to 49 per cent.

In total, eight strikes across our men's, women's and Academy teams were nominated for our 'winner stays on' bracket-style vote with Giroud and Havertz defeating the likes of Mason Mount, Sophie Ingle and Jude Soonsup-Bell to reach the grand final.

A reminder of how the voting played out can be seen in the infographic above, while Giroud's winning strike is available for you to view on repeat at the top of this page!
