Blues eyeing Pedraza

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Villarreal left-back Alfonso Pedraza.

According to a report in La Razon, the Blues are keen on further strengthening the side and are looking at the Spaniard as an option.

Pedraza played in 44 games for Villarreal in the season just gone, establishing himself as an important player for former Arsenal head coach Unai Emery.

The 25-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025 and the player has a release clause of £35 million. Villarreal reportedly could be willing to cash in after winning the Europa League.

The report also states that the Blues could face competition from Napoli who are interested in Pedraza after scouting him for more than a year.

Gallas lauds Kante

William Gallas has labelled Blues midfielder N’Golo Kante as the best football player in the world.

Speaking to 101 Great Goals, the former Chelsea defender praised his fellow countryman after another impressive season at Stamford Bridge.

‘Everybody loves Kante and it’s easy to see why,’ he said. ‘For me at the moment, he is the best player in the world.

‘I know people will talk more about strikers because fans like to see goals and they appreciate attacking players more.’

The Frenchman started his Euro 2020 campaign on a high last night in France’s 1-0 win over Germany. The 30-year-old had 66 touches, 88.2 per cent pass accuracy and completed all of his long balls (three).

‘If you look at what Kante has done since he arrived in England, it is phenomenal,’ Gallas added. ‘He won the league with Leicester City, then went to Chelsea and won it there.

‘He has won the Europa League and now the Champions League as well as winning the World Cup with France. That is amazing, for me, he is the best player in the world.’

Former Germany boss believes Werner will silence critics

Ex-Germany head coach Berti Vogts believes Timo Werner should be more selfish in front of goal.

Speaking to Sportsbuzzer, Vogts added that the Chelsea attacker can play an important role for Joachim Low’s German side.

‘I would like to see Werner upfront,’ he said. ‘He can get into important spaces in front of goal with his speed right there, in the centre.

‘He can do a lot with his strength one-on-one.’

Werner will also be looking forward to impacting his national team the same way he helped the Blues in his debut season in England. In his national team career, he has scored 16 goals in 40 matches.

In the season just gone, he had the most goal contributions in the Chelsea squad, getting 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

‘As a striker, you can’t think about using the man next to you first, scoring has to be your first goal,’ Vogts continued.

‘A striker is measured by goals and it's heroic when you score a decisive goal.’
