Blues eyeing Traore

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

According to AS, the Spaniard is currently on the shortlist of potential right wing-backs that could be brought into the club next season.

It is believed that Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi is viewed as the first option, but Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the Moroccan could make the Blues look elsewhere.

Traore, who is currently away with Spain at the Euros, has proven Premier League experience and missed one league game in the entire 2020/21 campaign.

The 25-year-old’s ball-carrying ability allows him to be a very attractive option for Thomas Tuchel and he can be a player to further increase competition in our squad.

The report states that if the Blues do make a move for Traore, they will have to fight off interest from Leeds United who are also chasing the player.

Havertz likened to Zidane

German legend Lothar Matthaus has given Kai Havertz the ultimate compliment after the 22-year-old’s impressive display against Portugal.

Speaking to Kicker, the former Bayern Munich midfielder has compared Havertz’s playing style to France legend Zinedine Zidane.

‘I compare him to Zidane in terms of skills and anticipating a situation,’ he said. ‘Zidane didn’t seem quick, but he was when he hit the ball. Havertz can do that too.

‘He (Havertz) has a good eye, good ball control, good positional play and fine technique.’

The German star finished off his season with a bang when he scored our Champions League winner against Manchester City. In the season just gone, Havertz scored nine goals and picked up nine assists.

‘Havertz plays intelligently and uses his body well,’ Matthaus added. ‘If you look at the talent then the coach would have to say Havertz always plays.

‘He has everything, but he needs the coach’s trust. One place in attack is already occupied by Thomas Muller, which is where I see Havertz.’

Pundits praise Christensen

Rio Ferdinand and Dion Dublin were in awe of Andreas Christensen’s long-range strike that helped Denmark secure a spot in the last 16 of Euro 2020 against Russia last night.

Speaking on the BBC, the pundits praised the Dane’s effort after a tough group stage which saw his team-mate Christian Eriksen collapse on the pitch against Finland.

‘Can you hit a ball cleaner than that?’ Ferdinand asked. ‘That’s just ridiculous.’

The Blues centre-back was roaming outside the box when the ball bounced towards him as the Russians tried to get rid of it.

His wild celebrations showed just how much the goal meant to him as his team celebrated in front of the Danish fans. Denmark will now face Wales on Saturday.

‘What a strike,’ Dublin said. ‘The keeper couldn’t get anywhere near this one.’
