The trip was organised by non-profit organisation Fulfilling Dreams who took a group of 35 children, aged 12-18 and all suffering from severe illnesses, and their caregivers to Euro 2020.

The delegation kick-started their week-long stay in Hungary with a surprise welcome message from Chelsea legend Petr Cech, who wished them an enjoyable experience at the match and during their stay in Budapest. The group went on to enjoy two Euro 2020 games, France versus Portugal and Netherlands against Czech Republic, both held in the capital Budapest.

The trip was funded by Chelsea FC club owner Roman Abramovich, who has supported Fulfilling Dreams since 2014, alongside other private and crowd funding donations, and in cooperation with UEFA.

Fulfilling Dreams’ mission is to fulfil the dreams of children suffering from severe illnesses. Whether it’s meeting their sports or celebrity hero, attending a concert or big sporting event – Fulfilling Dreams aims to empower children and provide positive experiences, bringing them new enthusiasm and strength to deal with the ongoing struggles of illness.
