Blues keen on White

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White.

According to the Transfer Window Podcast, the Blues could potentially make a move for the England international this summer.

‘We’ve told you there’s been interest and a conversation with Manchester City,’ journalist Duncan Castles said.

‘I now understand that Chelsea have notified the player of their interest in signing him.’

White had an impressive Premier League debut campaign, playing 36 of Brighton’s 38 top flight games.

His fantastic displays were rewarded with a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2020. He made his international debut against Romania in the warm-up game leading up to the tournament.

Fabregas eyes management

Cesc Fabregas has revealed his plans of becoming a manager when he retires.

Speaking on TalkSport, the former Blues midfielder says he has been warned about the profession, but he is determined to be a success.

‘It’s something that has been inside of me for a long time,’ the 34-year-old said. ‘It’s something I would like to try.

‘People tell me I’m crazy because after a long career and so much pressure, going into management is maybe even more pressure.’

Fabregas made 198 appearances for the Blues, scoring 22 goals and picking up 57 assists. The Spaniard also won two Premier League titles, one Europa League and two FA Cups during his time at Stamford Bridge.

‘It’s something that I like, I want to give it a go,’ Fabregas continued. ‘I’m learning, studying, listening to a lot of different people.

‘In football, you always have to keep learning every day so I’m happy about this.’

Vestergaard hails Christensen

Andreas Christensen has been praised by his Danish team-mate Jannick Vestergaard.

Speaking in an interview that was repeated in Tribal Football, the Southampton defender praised Christensen for his ability to switch into different roles during the game.

‘Playing with a three is nothing new to us,’ Vestergaard said ‘We have also done it for some periods with the national team in the qualifications and the Nations League.

‘We also do it a lot at our clubs, where Christensen has just won the Champions League in a treble chain, so it comes to us quite naturally.’

Christensen has been one of the standout defenders at Euro 2020, helping his country reach the semi-finals where they will face England on Wednesday.

‘The special thing is that Christensen is so flexible that he can go up and play a midfield position where the rest of us then go down and play with a four,’ Vestergaard added about the Chelsea centre-back. ‘It is the system in which we are trained and raised.

‘It comes naturally to us, but of course, it’s Christensen’s readiness for change that makes it possible to change so fluently during the match.’
