Petit hails Haaland

Emmanuel Petit believes Chelsea should try to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland.

Speaking in a report that was repeated in the Daily Mail, the former Blues star responded to reports linking us to the 20-year-old star.

‘Chelsea need a striker and someone who scores a lot of goals,’ Petit said. ‘Haaland is the answer.

‘He is strong, powerful and young with a bright future in front of him.’

Reports state the Norwegian striker is on the shortlist of potential summer signings that could further strengthen our attack. Last season Haaland scored 27 goals in 27 games in the Bundesliga.

‘Offensively, he could become a finisher at Chelsea,’ Petit continued. ‘I can imagine his relationship with Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech making him score lots of goals at Stamford Bridge.’

Kuryani backs Werner

Former Stuttgart striker Kevin Kuranyi believes Timo Werner will hit the ground running this upcoming season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kuranyi discussed the challenges the former RB Leipzig man had to face in his debut Premier League campaign.

‘Playing in England is very difficult,’ the ex-Bundesliga striker said about Werner. ‘It’s different to how he played at Leipzig. He played in another position.

‘He is a goal-getter who needs the ball in the box, who needs the ball with speed.’

The German attacker’s pace allows him to be a useful asset in defensive situations too, as he leads the line in the press. In his first season at Stamford Bridge, the 25-year-old scored 12 goals and picked up 15 assists.

‘In England sometimes you have to keep the ball and play with different tactics,’ Kuranyi continued.

‘I hope he will score more goals for Chelsea and also regain his confidence to score for Germany too.’

Rice adds Kante in his combined five-a-side team

Declan Rice has picked which Chelsea players he would play with in his five-a-side team.

Speaking on the England YouTube channel, the West Ham midfielder and Mason Mount were asked to pick a Chelsea and West Ham combined five-a-side team.

‘My first thoughts are to put me and N’Golo Kante together to protect the goal,’ Rice said. ‘Mason Mount in front.’

The West Ham midfielder is currently away with England at Euro 2020 along with Mount, who suggested adding Kai Havertz to the imaginary five-a-side team as the technical player who could play off the striker, leading Rice to praise our Champions League final goal scorer.

‘Havertz, wow. What a five-a-side that is,’ Rice added. ‘I would pay great money to play in that team.’
