Following confirmation of his move to AC Milan, Olivier Giroud has posted a farewell message of thanks to the Chelsea family.

The French striker heads to Italy after three-and-a-half years in south-west London, during which time he lifted the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League, scoring 39 goals in 119 appearances.

Most memorable of those were efforts in the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton and in the Europa League final against former club Arsenal, as well as last term’s Goal of the Season.

The 34-year-old took to Twitter after his switch to the San Siro was announced to pay tribute to his former colleagues and supporters at Stamford Bridge.

‘To all the Blues, to my team-mates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments,’ he said on social media.

‘I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart.

‘Our victories in the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent.’
