Chelsea FC Women defender Hannah Blundell has today completed a permanent move to Manchester United.

A graduate from our Centre of Excellence, Blundell has played her part in each of Chelsea Women’s trophy triumphs over the last decade.

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea at the age of 16, making an impressive 165 appearances for the Blues and winning 10 major honours.

Blundell netted 12 goals during her 11-year stay at the club, with the first of those goals coming on her FA Women’s Super League debut against Birmingham in 2013.

The defender shared the club's Young Player of the Year award with Millie Bright in 2015 after a fine season in which Chelsea won the Women’s Super League and Women’s FA Cup.

Her form continued and after the Blues secured the Double in 2017/18, the consistency and quality of her displays were rewarded with a place in the PFA Women’s Team of the Year.

Blundell then earned her first cap for England, in the final game of the 2018 SheBelieves Cup against the USA, and was selected in the 2018/19 PFA Women’s Super League Team of the Year by her fellow players for a second consecutive season.

The right-back helped Chelsea win the WSL and our first Continental League Cup in the 2019/20 campaign, and Blundell added another WSL and Continental League Cup to her honours list during her final season for the Blues, in which she made 13 appearances.

Manager Emma Hayes said of Blundell’s departure: ‘Hannah is a club legend who started with us at the very beginning as Chelsea Ladies, right through to us moving to Kingsmeadow and winning consecutive WSL titles last season. Hannah has played a big part of our success and we will miss her; however, this is a great opportunity for Hannah and we wish her all the best for the future.’

Chelsea would like to thank Hannah for her loyalty and dedication during her time with the club and wish her every success for the future.
