Chelsea eyeing Kimpembe

According to L’Equipe. Chelsea are keen on bringing in Presnel Kimpembe to Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back featured regularly for France at Euro 2020 and Paris Saint-Germain last season. However, the arrival of Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos and other international signings could change things for the 25-year-old.

‘Kimpembe is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2024, is vice-captain and is attached to his hometown club, but he could get itchy feet if he finds himself on the bench frequently,’ the report states.

The versatile defender has also worked with Thomas Tuchel previously when the German boss spent two seasons in Paris.

The report states, as things stand, the centre-back is not worried about his spot at the club and has not thought about leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Blues are believed to be interested in further strengthening our backline and the French star remains a suitable target.

Terry departs Aston Villa

John Terry has left his role as Aston Villa assistant coach ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season, it was announced on the club’s official website.

The former Blues captain spent three seasons as Dean Smith’s number two and enjoyed good moments such as winning the promotion play-offs at Wembley.

‘It’s been a tremendous honour and privilege to have spent these three years at Villa,’ Terry wrote on Instagram. ‘But I feel now is the right time to make the extremely difficult decision to move on.

‘I genuinely don’t feel it is fair to move into a new season without being certain of seeing that through.’

The 40-year-old, who appeared 32 times for Villa in the 2017/18 season, will now take time off with family and visit clubs around Europe to continue to chase his dream of being a manager.

‘It has also been my ambition to move into football management,’ he added. ‘And providing the right opportunity presents itself, I feel ready to take up the challenge.’

Torres takes over as youth coach

According to the Guardian, former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been appointed as head coach of Atletico Madrid's youth team.

The former Spain forward, who scored 121 goals in 351 games for Atletico, worked in their academy last season as an assistant coach. He will be making the step up for the upcoming campaign.

‘I’m proud and happy to be returning home,’ he said. ‘It’s an exciting challenge I’ve got in front of me and we’ll give everything we can to continue to serve our club.’

Torres signed for the Blues in 2011 from Liverpool, which was a British transfer record at the time.

The attacker also scored 45 goals in 172 games at Stamford Bridge, including the famous goal at the Nou Camp to put the Blues into the Champions League final in 2012.
