Jake Clarke-Salter has returned on loan to the Championship and will join Coventry City for the 2021/22 campaign.

It is a return to England’s second tier for the defender, who turns 24 next month, following previous loans at Birmingham City and Sunderland.

During his time at St Andrew’s, the Chelsea Academy graduate made 34 appearances across two spells as he helped the Blues stay in the division.

Previous loan moves have taken him to Vitesse and Bristol Rovers, while he has also represented England up to the Under-21 age group and won the 2017 Under-20 World Cup with the young Lions in South Korea.

Clarke-Salter will reunite with his former youth team coach Adi Viveash, who is assistant at the Ricoh Arena, as well as fellow loanee Ian Maatsen. The Sky Blues started their Championship campaign with a late come-from-behind victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend.
