Charlotte Wardlaw will spend the 2021/22 campaign on a season-long loan at Liverpool.

The defender signed her first professional contract with Chelsea in July and has now secured a loan move to Liverpool to gain first team experience in the FA Women’s Championship.

Wardlaw joined the Blues Academy at the age of 15 and made her first appearance for the Blues against Tottenham Hotspur in November 2019.

The youngster has made a further two appearances, against Charlton in the FA Cup in 2020, and London City Lionesses in last season’s FA Cup campaign.

General manager Paul Green said: ‘Charlotte’s loan to Liverpool will provide a great opportunity for her to gain valuable experience playing first team football.

‘She’s had a really great pre-season, and this is a good next step in her development from academy football to going to play in a competitive environment, where results are important week in week out.

‘We wish Charlotte all the best and look forward to closely watching her progress throughout the season.’
