Jorginho believes that Chelsea can be proud of our battling performance against Liverpool, with the Italian hailing our 1-1 draw with 10 men as a very good point.

The Blues left Anfield with a share of the spoils after Kai Havertz’s goal was cancelled out by a Mo Salah penalty, which was given for a handball by Reece James who was sent off just before the break.

Thomas Tuchel's side defended doggedly during the second half and were more than value for our point, with Jorginho expressing how much effort the players put in to gain the point and believes it should be considered a good result.

‘It was very tough out there,’ said the midfielder.

‘When you are a man down at 1-1 for over 45 minutes and with the atmosphere at Liverpool, it is very hard not to concede. It’s a big challenge and we did it, so it was a big team effort.

‘We are proud of what we did because we showed that we know that we can suffer sometimes and we can fight. It was nice to see everyone fighting and running and helping each other as a team properly, so I think the draw was fair and we can be happy with it.

‘We knew from coming here last time that is so hard. We had to fight together because we are a really big group, so we need to fight together and suffer together and it is what we did.’

While still early days in the season, Jorginho believes we can look at this point against a potential title rival as a good result and now the focus is to remain humble but hungry for more points.

‘We are growing as a team because we believe in what we do,’ added out No.5. ‘We just need to grow game by game and then we see what will happen.

‘The focus now is to be humble, stay hungry for wins and to keep working hard and never drop our levels. When you drop even a little bit that is the problem.

‘We need to keep fighting and working hard as a team. In the end we will see where that takes us.’
