The defender’s presence in the Chelsea squad for the Premier League encounter had been in doubt with Brazil potentially asking FIFA to suspend eight players from club duty this weekend.

This followed World Cup qualifiers for which those players did not travel to South America due to Covid quarantine protocols. There had been a question mark over three Chile, Paraguay and Mexico internationals too.

The Brazilian Football Association has confirmed to FIFA that it will not be pursuing suspensions so the players can take to the pitch for their respective clubs.
