Conte: Hakimi wants Real Madrid move

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes Achraf Hakimi longs for a move to Real Madrid and that the Blues made the right decision in reportedly not pursuing the defender.

The Moroccan was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge from Inter Milan this summer, following a strong season under Conte where Inter lifted the Serie A title, before eventually completing a move to Paris Saint Germain.

However Conte, speaking to Sky Italia and reported in The Mirror, believes the right-back could soon look to push for a move away from the French capital to complete a ‘dream’ switch back to former side, Real Madrid.

‘Psychologically, Hakimi suffered a little bit from last year's games against Real Madrid,’ Conte told Sky Italia.

‘His dream is to play for that club again as a key player.’

Hakimi made 17 appearances for Real Madrid after progressing through the Los Blancos’ youth ranks, before enjoying success on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The defender then joined Inter and played a key role as they lifted the Serie A title, before departing the Italian side for Paris earlier this summer.

James appeals for help in recovering stolen medals

Reece James has revealed that his Champions League winners’ medal was among a number of items stolen from his home while he played for Chelsea in the competition at Stamford Bridge this week.

The Blues defender took to Instagram to share the distressing news of the burglary, adding that ‘luckily no one was present during the break in but I want to let you all know I am safe and well.’

As well as his medal from our European triumph in Porto, his UEFA Super Cup winners’ medal and Euro 2020 runners-up medal were also stolen. The 21-year-old claimed police were investigating the crime and ‘closing in’ on the perpetrators, though he also appealed for help in delivering justice and shared CCTV footage of the crime being committed.

‘These medals were won representing Chelsea and England, honours that can never be taken away from me whether or not I have the physical medals to prove it,’ he added.

‘The police, my advisers and Chelsea FC (and many others) are all behind me as we have firm leads on who the perpetrators are.

‘I really do appreciate having the platform to tell you all about my misfortune and I hope together we can catch these individuals and deliver justice where it is due.’

Surrey Police have confirmed that ‘this investigation remains ongoing and is in the early stages. No arrests have been made yet.’

Kante tackles the weekly shop

N’Golo Kante has been sighted by a football fan in the everyday situation of supermarket shopping, with others on social media amusingly comparing the midfielder’s activity in-store to his playing style on the pitch.

Originally posted on Twitter and as reported in the Sun, the surprised shopper had a selfie taken with Kante and wrote, ‘@nglkante what a player and what a human being! Very kindly took a picture with me and was so polite.

‘Listened patiently to what I had to say, so humble for a player of such class!’

Just how quickly and efficiently Kante completed his shopping task is not reported, but with a nod to his famous ability to be exactly where wanted at exactly the right time when playing matches, the Sun reports that one of the follow-up comments to the tweet was: ‘Is it true he was down every aisle at the same time?’
