Our development squad continue their search for a first win of the season when we host a London derby at Kingsmeadow this lunchtime…

Arsenal are the visitors to KT1 for the midday kick-off. The game was originally set to be played at Stamford Bridge but has been moved to the Academy’s regular home in Kingston-upon-Thames due to inclement weather experienced at the Bridge this week.

Tickets can still be purchased at the Kingsmeadow ticket office. Please note payment at the ticket office is card only. Tickets purchased to watch the game at Stamford Bridge are no longer valid and will be refunded within the next seven working days. Alternatively, you can watch the game live and for free on the official Chelsea website or 5th Stand app, with the stream underway from 11.50am.

Andy Myers’s side have drawn two and lost two of their opening four Premier League 2 games of the season, though a 3-1 victory in midweek for the Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League will have brought confidence to the group ahead of another tricky assignment.

Last time out

Goals from Charlie Webster, Harvey Vale and Jude Soonsup-Bell secured a come-from-behind victory for the young Blues against their counterparts from Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday afternoon at Cobham.

Nine of the starters had featured for Myers’s men in our PL2 defeat at Manchester City three days earlier, a game in which Vale fired us in front before the hosts came back strongly with three goals in the final 12 minutes sealing a 4-1 win.

Previous meeting

Our most recent encounter with the Gunners at this level came back in February when we played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Boreham Wood. The Blues led twice through Thierno Ballo and Marcel Lewis but were pegged back on both occasions and had to settle for a point.

The home fixture took place in October and ended in a 3-0 victory for Chelsea with goals from Ian Maatsen, Bryan Fiabema and Tino Livramento.

The opposition

Following a 6-1 defeat at West Ham on the opening weekend, Arsenal have responded with three straight victories, most recently triumphing 3-1 against Manchester United last time out with a brace for Folarin Balogun.

The Gunners also have a new coach in charge this term, the former England Under-18 manager Kevin Betsy.
