The sun came out to welcome some of our Blues supporters to Cobham for our second Community Day this summer.

We invited some very special guests down to one of our open training sessions to watch their heroes train and meet the full squad of players for socially distanced photos at the end of an exciting afternoon of action. As well as getting their photo taken with the Champions League trophy, our visitors were treated to a Q&A with former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo. Tore spoke to the guests about his time playing at Chelsea, where he made over 150 appearances and won trophies including the Cup Winners’ Cup, the FA Cup the League Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, as well as highlighting his international successes. He also gave insight into how life at Cobham is now that he is coaching players.

Among the guests in attendance were seven-year-old Tommy, 10-year-old Kodie and 24-year-old Callum, as well as 17-year-old Eryk, 14-year-old Freddy and 13-year-old Mona.

Tommy was very excited to attend the session with his mum, having recently rung the bell at his local hospital to celebrate getting the all-clear from cancer. He said: ‘I’ve had lots of fun today, my best part was watching the players train and I’ve met Reece James and Mason Mount who are my favourite.’

Tommy’s mum Kirstie added: ‘This week has been a lovely treat for Tommy after what he’s been through. It’s really given him something to look forward to. Coming to watch Chelsea play Zenit earlier in the week, followed by meeting the players today, has been really special.’

Callum also commented on the afternoon: ‘As a big Chelsea fan, it’s been great to be invited down while I’m on a break from my treatment. Of course, meeting players such as Chilwell, James and Silva has been great!

‘Watching the training with my friend, who has come down to support me has been really interesting. It’s been good as we used to play football together, so we’ve been able to get an insight into the training side of things and see all the behind-the-scenes action.’

The regular Community Days see the Chelsea Foundation linking up with a range of charities to arrange visits for supporters and their carers, giving them a well-deserved boost in what is often a difficult time for them and their families.
