De Ligt to remain at Juventus?

After reports emerged last week that Chelsea were interested in Matthijs de Ligt, Give Me Sport are now stating that the defender will remain at Juventus – for this season at least.

The Dutch international, who faced Chelsea in the Champions League last week, is expected to remain in Turin for the foreseeable future, but could move on next summer when a reported buyout clause in his contract becomes active.

‘According to Italian media outlet Il Bianco Nero, the Blues have kept watch on Juventus's de Ligt,’ the report states.

‘However, the report also suggests that Juventus do not want to sell the Netherlands international ace.

‘But Tuttosport have counter-claimed that a release clause worth £103million will become active in de Ligt's contract next summer. The report indicates Mino Raiola, de Ligt's agent, has refused to rule out the possibility of his client leaving Turin next summer.’

Shevchenko eyes managerial role

According to The Sun, clubs such as Celtic have been put on ‘red-alert’ after it emerged that former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is ready to move into club management.

Sheva, who spent three years as a player at Stamford Bridge, has grown a strong reputation as an emerging head coach following a successful stint as boss of the Ukraine national side and is now ready to take on a job at club level.

‘Andriy Shevchenko wants to make a managerial move to club football and has put Celtic and other clubs on alert,’ says the report in The Sun.

‘The ex-Chelsea and AC Milan striker is keen to work in club football again after quitting as Ukraine boss after a Euro 2020 quarter final defeat to England.

‘Shevchenko, 45, is free to move and feelers have already gone out from the top agency he works with to find out about vacancies.

‘The legendary forward, who is Ukraine's all-time top scorer with 48, even had interviews in the summer but failed to land a job.’

Batshuayi’s brother carving a name out at Barnsley

One summer move that seems to have crept quietly under the radar is Barnsley’s capture of Aaron Leya Iseka, the younger brother of Michy Batshuayi.

The Mirror has covered the 23-year-old’s start at the Championship side, where he has made six appearances so far for the Tykes without scoring.

The differing surnames may have caused confusion but Leya Iseka is the younger sibling of Batshuayi, currently on loan from the Blues at Besiktas.

‘Earlier this summer he joined the Championship side on a four-year deal after joining from French club Toulouse,’ the report explains.

‘He certainly has plenty of potential - and a famous sibling to follow in the footsteps of.

‘The different surname will have thrown a few people, but Leya Iseka is indeed the younger brother of Chelsea and Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi (he bears the surname of their mother rather than their father).’
