Chelsea handed transfer boost for German defender

Chelsea’s reported interest in signing Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule at the end of the season look to have been handed a huge boost, according to media reports.

According to Sport1, talks between the German champions and Sule over a new deal have stalled with the defender out of contract in the German capital next summer.

In a story covered by Football.London, the 26-year-old is highly thought of by new manager Julian Nagelsmann, and he is keen to keep hold of the defender.

‘A free transfer next summer for Sule is 'likely at this point of time', with the Blues one of the interested clubs keeping a close eye on proceedings,’ the report states.

‘It's also said that 'many top clubs from England', while not naming those sides, have asked about Sule in recent weeks.

‘Sule, who has been at Bayern Munich since signing from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2017 for £18million, has featured seven times for the German outfit in the Bundesliga so far this season - helping the side keep two clean sheets in the process.’

Former German midfielder lauds qualities of Wirtz

Former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Didi Hamann has spoke very highly of reported Chelsea target Florian Wirtz.

The Bayer Leverkusen player has started the season in fine goalscoring form, netting six goals in eight appearances in both the Bundesliga and Europa League.

‘He's a brilliant player, a different player to (Kai) Havertz, but he's playing very well so far for Leverkusen,’ Hamann told Tribal Football.

‘He's stepped up so far, you can see he's a leader in this team with his performances in the early weeks of the season.

‘I don't think I've seen a better central midfielder at his age in decades, that's how good I think he is.’

The comments come after Sport Witness reported that Chelsea are one of numerous clubs keeping tabs on the German attacker.

The 18-year-old is under contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2026.

Former Blues captain shows off incredible trophy cabinet

Former skipper John Terry took to Instagram to show off his illustrious trophy cabinet, one that includes 15 major honours and his many individual awards.

Terry, who holds the record for the most appearances for Chelsea in UEFA competitions, also showed fans his England caps and bottles of champagne, which used to be awarded as the Man of the Match prize.

In a story by The Sun, the photos of Terry’s trophy cabinet can be seen, which were posted for a limited time on his Instagram story.

‘There's also a lot of mini replica Prem and FA Cup trophies, as well as various individual honours,’ the report states.

‘These include two copies of the Alan Hardaker Trophy, a prize awarded to the Man of the Match in a League Cup final.

‘What's most staggering about Terry's trophy cabinet is the lack of medals, suggesting there are plenty more honours dotted around his home.’

The Chelsea legend won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League during his playing days.
