American admits his 'dream' to play for Chelsea

‘Ricardo Pepi has admitted his dream of playing for Chelsea after attracting interest from the likes of Bayern Munich, Juventus and AC Milan,’ the story states.

‘The MLS hotshot has been compared to Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland following his goalscoring exploits for FC Dallas.

‘Pepi's achievements this season have seen attracted interest from some of Europe's top clubs, with the centre-forward having had a trial at Bayern, while Juventus have reportedly spoken with his agents.

‘I am still young and have a lot to learn,’ said Pepi in an interview with TUDN, cited by The Express.

‘I would like to play at Real Madrid one day. Or Chelsea, or another big club.’

Pepi made his FC Dallas debut in a 3-0 win over Toronto when aged just 16, and soon scored his first goal for the club with a 96th-minute equaliser against Montreal Impact.

More praise for Chelsea star

England Under-21s boss Lee Carsley has praised Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher after his impressive start to the Premier League season.

The 21-year-old, currently on loan at fellow London club Crystal Palace, has two goals to his name for Patrick Vieira’s side and scored for Carsley’s Young Lions last night in a 2-2 draw with Slovenia.

Football.London reports that the new England Under-21 manager has been pleased by Gallagher’s start to the season, along with former Chelsea Academy defender Marc Guehi.

‘It’s really important for their development that they are trusted to play in the first teams, that they are playing at such a high level and that they’re able to manage the emotion that comes with playing in the first team and the up and down with results and coping with that,' Carsley was quoted as saying to the South London Press.

‘Those two are very level-headed players and watching their games at Palace, they’re obviously very important to Crystal Palace as well and we’re aware of that.’

Gallagher, who has won both the August and September Player of the Month awards for Palace, is due to return to SW6 at the end of the current campaign.

Club World Cup to be postponed until next year

The Mirror claim that the Club World Cup, which Chelsea are set to participate in after our Champions League triumph, is set to be postponed until next year.

The tournament is provisionally scheduled for December 9-19 this year, but after Japan withdrew as competition hosts due to Covid concerns, the competition is reportedly unlikely to now happen.

‘FIFA have yet to confirm an alternative host but are set to make a decision on when it will now take place at their next Council meeting on October 20,’ the report states.

‘It is likely to be switched until early 2022 but the dates have yet to be nailed down and Chelsea are still waiting to hear. FIFA are yet to decide on the most likely venue but are committed to the tournament.

‘South Africa, Brazil and Qatar have all shown an interest but it is understood that discussions are still ongoing.'

Liverpool played in the last Club World Cup in Qatar back in 2019, and were victorious in the competition.
